Save money by making your own apple cinnamon bread. Instead of buying one that is filled with preservatives, you can easily make your own. This recipe will make 3–4 loaves. Simply make them, wrap the extras in plastic wrap and pop them in the freezer for later!
Sweet breads freeze well for up to 6 months.
Apple Cinnamon Bread
- 3 ¾ cups flour
- ½ Tbsp. salt
- 2 ¼ cups sugar
- 2 Tbsp. baking powder
- ½ cup butter, cold and cut into pieces
- 2 eggs
- 4 small apples, peeled, cored and chopped
- 2 small (4 ounce) snack cups of applesauce
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- Cinnamon sugar
Prepare two to four glass loaf pans by spraying with cooking spray and coating with cinnamon sugar.
Preheat oven to 350*.
In a large bowl add: flour, salt, sugar and baking powder.
Mix together well.
Add 1 cup of mix and butter into food processor and process until blended well. If you do not have a food processor, you can do this in a large bowl with a pastry cutter.
Add butter mixture back into large bowl with remaining dry mix and mix together well using a wooden spoon or whisk.
Add eggs, apples, applesauce, milk and cinnamon to the mix and mix until well combined. If it is too thick, you can always add a dab more milk.
Pour mixture evenly into pans and sprinkle with more cinnamon sugar.
Bake for 50 minutes.
